Giancarlo Zigante has spent his life with truffles, but during the past 25 years he was dedicated to a mission – to familiarize all those with truffles who don’t have the luck to live in the Centre of the truffles world as he does.
Year 1992.
The leading Croatian company for processing and selling truffles was founded - Zigante tartufi d.o.o. with headquarters in Plovanija, near Buje.
Year 2000.
The first Zigante truffles shop, specialized for the sales of truffles and products with truffles was opened in Livade. Less than a year ago, exactly near Livade, Giancarlo Zigante found the world’s biggest white truffle which was entered in the Guinness Book of Records.
Year 2002.
The family opens the restaurant Zigante in Livade, basing its offer on dishes with fresh Istrian truffles, and it soon found its way to the very top of Croatian gastronomy.
Year 2005.
Restaurant Zigante was renovated and expanded with a VIP lounge and an outdoor loggia.
Year 2007.
In a renovated Istrian stone house, adjoining to the restaurant, 3 comfortable and modern equipped four-star Zigante rooms were furnished. The top accommodation makes it possible for the guests to enjoy the peace, flavours and fragrances of this typical Istrian rural place.
Year 2008.
The company Zigante tartufi d.o.o. opened the most modern factory for processing and canning truffles in Europe with a total area of approximately 1600 square meters.
